Do you own your website, or just rent it?

There are two ways to have a business website, and they suit different people. You can buy one outright and own it, or you can pay monthly for a site that someone else keeps running. Neither is right or wrong. What matters is being honest about which one fits how you actually work.

Owning it outright

You pay once, the site is yours, and from that day the upkeep is yours too. That works well if you or someone on your team genuinely enjoys keeping a website current: the updates, the hosting, the security, the steady work of staying found online. If that person exists and has the time, owning outright is the cheaper path over the years.

Renting the engine, not the brand

The monthly model is different. You pay a fee and a team handles everything: building it, hosting it, keeping it current and working to keep it found. The site is looked after for as long as you subscribe. The important thing to check is what stays yours no matter what. With any honest arrangement, your name, your customers, your reviews and your phone number are always yours. You are renting the upkeep and the visibility work, not your own business.

The question that decides it

Ask yourself one thing: after the site goes live, who is going to look after it? If the honest answer is nobody, then owning a site outright is a false economy, because an unmaintained website slowly stops earning. If the answer is a capable person with real time, buying once may suit you better.

Most owners we speak to would simply rather it was handled, so they can get on with the work. If that is you, tell us your town and we will show you what a looked-after site could do.
