Do you still need a website in 2026?

It is a fair question. You have a Facebook page, a Google listing and an Instagram, all free. Why pay for a website on top of that? The answer is that those are places you rent, and a website is the one place online that is actually yours.

You do not control the rented places

A social platform can change its rules, hide your posts, or suspend your account overnight, and you have no say. Your website answers to nobody but you. It is where a serious customer goes to check you are real before they call, and it is the one address that will still be there and still be yours in five years.

It is where buying decisions actually happen

People discover you on social media, but they decide on your website. It is where they judge whether you look established, whether you do the specific thing they need, and whether they trust you enough to pick up the phone. A tidy social page and no website leaves that decision half made.

So yes, in 2026 a local business still needs a website. It just needs to be a good one that is kept alive, not a page built once and forgotten.
